Australian National Housing Conference in Sydney, Australia, February 20-22, 2008

The conference, sponsored by Australian National Department of Housing, the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI) and the Australian Government Department of Families, Community Services & Indigenous Affairs, will be held in Sydney, February 20-22, 2008. XLV Interamerican Housing Conference, Lima, Peru, March 10-12, 2008

The Interamerican Union for Housing (Uniapravi) is sponsoring a 45th Anniversary in Lima, Peru, March 10-12, 2008. It is a part of well known series of regional forums on housing polices, housing finance, urban development and planning. The central topic of this conference will be urban development, housing finance and quality of life with the idea of analyzing initiatives, successful experiences, policies and legal and financial instruments linked to the development of cities that give quality of life to its citizens and that can attract investment and human capital. HAS Conference 2008: Housing and Cohesion, York, England, April 2-4, 2008

The conference, sponsored by the Housing Studies Association, will be held in York, April 2-4, 2008. It will offer an opportunity to survey across the different dimensions and dynamics of neighborhood diversity and to explore the role and significance of housing as a driver of division and its potential as an agent of cohesion. Key themes for the conference will include policy perspectives and agendas on cohesion and neighborhoods including the disputed and problematical nature of neighborhoods and their population; the key dynamics of neighborhood diversity and cohesion including the intersection of difference, housing processes and connections or disconnections within and between neighborhoods; emerging and neglected dimensions of disconnection including new immigration, territoriality within neighborhoods, the role of new technologies in constructing neighborhood differences. Improving Slum Conditions through Innovative Financing, Stockholm, Sweden, June 14-19, 2008
