Founding Sponsors

The National Association of REALTORS (NAR) is a professional association of U.S. real estate practitioners. It currently has 1.2 million individual members. NAR maintains cooperative working relationships pursuant to formal agreements with some 66 national real estate associations in 53 countries around the world. NAR has long supported affordable housing.

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is a non profit ecumenical Christian housing movement with the goal of eliminating substandard housing and homelessness from the face of the earth by building adequate and basic housing and making decent housing a matter of conscience. HFHI has built more than 200,000 houses around the world, providing people in more than 3,000 communities in 100 countries with safe, adequate and affordable housing.

The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) is a professional association of Canadian real estate practitioners, with a current membership of over 60,000 individuals. CREA has a rich history of involvement in affordable housing issues in Canada and internationally.

Funders

The IHC receives financial support from its founding sponsors, HFHI, NAR and CREA and 33 other coalition members. It has also received funds from The Rockefeller Foundation, The Wallace Genetic Foundation, The International Consortium of Real Estate Associations (ICREA), The Leonard P. Reaume Memorial Foundation and The International Real Property Foundation (IRPF).

The IHC also receives support from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) through a Leader with Associate (LWA) Cooperative Agreement with HFHI, which provides financial support for the program of the IHC over a five year period. In 2006 the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) granted funds to the IHC to support its participation in the World Urban Forum III.
